Sophomore forward Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) started the weekend scoring barrage for the Foresters in the 19th minute on Saturday. She also assisted on the team's other first half goal, the second of 2003 scored by junior midfielder Kristen Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central). Lawrence pulled to within one goal at the 54:23 mark but the Foresters responded with the second goal of the year by junior midfielder Erika Koesling (Lindenhurst, IL/Antioch) in the 60th minute. Junior midfielder Carinn Rasak (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Preparatory) recorded the assist. Stevenson scored another unassisted goal at 60:58 and Rasak assisted senior forward Aviva Landin (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) on the game's final tally with 2:20 remaining. Lake Forest attempted 20 shots while Lawrence had just nine. Freshman goalkeeper Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) recorded three saves in the victory. Operzedek played the first half and sophomore Melissa Guillermo (North Las Vegas, NV/Culver Academy) took care of the second in the shutout over Knox. The Foresters out-shot the Prairie Fire 29-8. Koesling scored her third goal of the year at 8:41 off a rebound. Stevenson and Landin were each credited with an assist. Stevenson scored the team's second goal of the game at 14:14 with freshman defender Angela Rubino (Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park) earning the assist for her first career point. Stevenson and Fink assisted Landin at 17:41 and Rasak scored off a pass from junior forward Lauren McHugh (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) at 25:30 to close out the first half scoring. Landin connected for two more goals early in the second half for her second career hat trick. Stevenson, Koesling, and Rasak each earned an assist. Landin is now tied with Stevenson for the team lead with nine goals on the year. Finally, McHugh recorded her second assist on the day on senior forward Tiffany Rudak's (Tinley Park, IL/Victor J. Andrew) first career goal at 60:49. Lake Forest will host the University of Chicago, the nation's fourth-ranked team, in the Foresters' Homecoming Game on Wednesday (October 1) at 4:30 p.m. The team's next Midwest Conference contest will be at home against Grinnell College on Saturday, October 11.
