Shutout of Concordia is Foresters’ Eighth Straight Victory
Lopez contributes to all four Forester goals

Tanya Lopez had two goals and two assists on Tuesday.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester women’s soccer team extended its winning streak to eight games Tuesday (September 28) with a 4-0 victory at home over Concordia University (WI). Lake Forest is now 9-1-0 on the season while the Falcons’ fell to 5-5-0.

Senior Kristen Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) headed in the game’s first goal at the 14:46 mark. Juniors Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) and Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) each earned an assist on Fink’s fourth score of the season. The same trio combined for the second score at 20:37, with Lopez scoring and both Fink and Stevenson recording an assist. At 24:55, Lopez scored her second goal of the game and team-high ninth of the year without any help as her corner kick deflected off a Concordia defender and past the goalie.

Sophomore Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) recorded three saves and blanked the Falcons for the first 45 minutes. Freshman Sofia Pappas (Park Ridge, IL/Loyola Academy) replaced her at halftime and had two saves while preserving the shutout.

The final Forester tally came in the 56th minute off the foot of senior Erika Koesling (Lindenhurst, IL/Antioch). She scored for the fourth time this season and Lopez was credited with another assist.

Lake Forest will host Carthage College in another non-conference game this Saturday (October 2) at 11:00 a.m. The team will also host Concordia University (IL) next Tuesday (October 5) and will resume Midwest Conference play at home against Carroll College on October 9.
