Lake Forest 3-1-0 in MWC after Victory over Lawrence
Quick start leads to Forester win

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester women’s soccer team hosted and defeated Lawrence University 3-1 on Saturday (September 29), raising its overall record to 5-4-1 and Midwest Conference mark to 3-1-0. The Vikings fell to 2-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in league play.

Lake Forest got on the scoreboard first less than 10 minutes into the contest on sophomore Jocelyn Maneval’s (Fairfax,Va./James W. Robinson) third goal of the season. She was assisted by junior Jaymie Honold (Kapolei, Hawaii/Kapolei). The Foresters then converted a corner kick opportunity to take a 2-0 lead at 13:25. It was junior Katie Rice’s (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) fourth score of the year and she was assisted by freshman Bianca Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica). Lawrence scored its only goal at 16:07 and the teams were scoreless the rest of the opening half.

The Foresters tacked on an insurance goal by senior Helen Eisenberg (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) with 16:11 remaining in the contest. Sophomore Monica Thomas (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) assisted on Eisenberg’s first score of the season.

Junior Alison Lynch (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) recorded four saves to earn the victory.

Lake Forest will host the University of Chicago, the 21st-ranked team in the nation, Tuesday (October 2) afternoon at 4:00.
