Foresters Prevail 3-1 at Lawrence University
Helen Eisenberg assists on one goal, scores another

Appleton, Wis. – The Lake Forest College women’s soccer team traveled to Lawrence University on Saturday (September 30) and came away with a 3-1 victory. The Foresters raised their overall record on the year to 5-3-0 and their Midwest Conference mark to 3-1-0. The Vikings fell to 3-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the league.

The visitors got on the scoreboard just 4:38 into the contest on freshman Jocelyn Maneval’s (Fairfax,Va./James W. Robinson) second goal of the season. She was assisted by Marly Ashworth (Acworth, N.H./Fall Mountain Regional). Lawrence tied the game with 80 seconds to play in the opening period.

Lake Forest regained the lead for good late in the 78th minute on sophomore Kelly Tate’s (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) first career goal. Junior Helen Eisenberg (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) earned the assist. Ashworth recorded her second assist of the game on Eisenberg’s second score of the year with 2:28 to play.

Senior goalkeeper Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) had three saves in the victory.

The Foresters will play a non-conference game at the University of Chicago, the nation’s eighth-ranked team, Tuesday (October 3) afternoon at 4:00.
