Foresters Start 2004 with Key 1-0 Victory at St. Norbert
Operzedek tallies eight saves in shutout

Katy Barrnett's first collegiate goal was an important one.
DE PERE, WI - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team started off the 2004 season on the right foot Saturday (September 4) with a 1-0 victory at St. Norbert College. The win gave the Foresters the early lead in the Midwest Conference standings and dropped the Green Knights' overall record to 1-1.

The home team had a 4-3 edge in shots in the first period and out-shot Lake Forest 7-4 in the final 45 minutes. All eight of St. Norbert's shots on goal were saved by sophomore Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield). It was the 10 th shutout of her young career and the team's sixth in it last eight contests, going back to last season.

The only goal of the game came at the 61:49 mark when freshman Katy Barrnett (Peterborough, NH/Lawrence Academy) scored off passes from junior Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) and senior Erika Koesling (Lindenhurst, IL/Antioch). Stevenson is now tied for fourth place in school history with 21 career assists.

The Foresters' next contest will be Tuesday (September 7) afternoon at 4:30 at the University of Chicago. The Maroons are ranked #2 in the nation.
