Coutts Scores Three Goals in Opening Win at North Park
Freshman Carinn Rasak gets first career goal

CHICAGO, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team defeated North Park University Wednesday (September 5th) in its 2001 season opener. After losing to the Vikings in 1997 and 1999, the Foresters have now evened the all-time series at two with wins in 2000 and 2001.

While the first game as a whole was a success, the opening minutes were not. North Park scored first just over seven minutes into the game when a Forester defensive breakdown led to a 1-0 deficit. The defense was solid the rest of the game, though, as the Vikings managed just four shot attempts all game.

Three of the Foresters' four goals came off the foot of senior forward Sandi Coutts (Round Lake, IL), the team's leading scorer from a year ago. The other goal was the first in the college career of freshman forward Carinn Rasak (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Prepoaratory). Coutts recorded the assist on the Rasak goal and the freshman returned the favor with an assist on the last of Coutts's goals. Senior midfielder Stacy Gunstream (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) also recorded two assists, tying her for third in the Lake Forest record books for career assists with 21.

The Foresters will play Knox College on Saturday (September 8th) at 2:00 pm in the team's home and Midwest Conference opener. Lake Forest owns a 7-0 record all-time against Knox.
