Foresters Defeat Benedictine 2-0 for First Victory of 2008

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Lake Forest College women's soccer team hosted and defeated Benedictine University 2-0 on Friday (September 5). The Foresters are now 1-3-0 on the season while the Eagles fell to 0-2-0.

After a scoreless opening half, the Foresters got on the scoreboard at 55:24 on the first goal of the season by senior midfielder Katie Rice (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest). She was assisted by sophomore defender Emily Weber (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills Upper School) and sophomore midfielder Bianca Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica).

The home team doubled its lead less than four minutes later when freshman midfielder curved a corner kick over the goalie into the goal. It was the first career score for Mikuta.

Senior goalkeeper Alison Lynch (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) needed just one save to record her first shuout of the season and 13th of her career.

Lake Forest will begin Midwest Conference play tomorrow afternoon (September 6) at Knox College. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
