Foresters Start 2005 Victoriously at Concordia
Katie Rice scores twice in 3-1 win

Katie Rice scored a pair of goals in her collegiate debut.
MEQUON, WI - The Lake Forest College women’s soccer team began its season with a 3-1 victory at Concordia University (WI) on Tuesday (September 6). It was the Foresters’ sixth consecutive win over the Falcons, who fell to 0-3-0 on the year.

Freshman Katie Rice (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) scored the team’s first goal of the season at the game’s 30:04 mark. After the home team tied the score on a penalty kick at 49:49, Rice found the back of the net again with the game winner at 57:36. She was assisted by freshman Mallory Davis (Whitefish Bay, WI/Whitefish Bay). Senior Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) tacked on an insurance goal with 3:53 remaining in the contest off a pass from junior Becca Bride (Wilmot, NH/Kearsarge Regional).

Freshman goalkeeper Alison Lynch (Dunlap, IL/Peoria Notre Dame) recorded four saves to earn her first collegiate victory.

The Foresters attempted 11 shots to Concordia’s 10. The Falcons earned four corner kick opportunities, twice as many as the visitors.

Lake Forest will play its home and Midwest Conference opener against Knox College on Saturday (September 10). The match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
