GALESBURG, IL - The Forester women's soccer team allowed its first goal of the year but still out-scored host Knox College 9-1 on Saturday (September 7). The Foresters, who defeated North Central College (2-0) and Concordia University (8-0) earlier in the week, are now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Midwest Conference. The Prairie Fire fall to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.

After scoring four goals in the victory over Concordia on Thursday (September 5), freshman forward Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) found the back of the net three more times at Knox. She opened the scoring in the ninth minute and scored twice within a six-minute span of the second half.

Freshman midfielder Breanne Kuenzi (Las Vegas, NV/Bonanza) scored her second goal of the year in the 42nd minute and assisted on senior forward Frances Hensely's (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) first goal since 2000. Hensely, who missed nearly all of the 2001 season with a knee injury, also earned as assist on Lopez's third goal.

Also scoring for Lake Forest were sophomore midfielder Carinn Rasak (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Prepoaratory) and freshmen Laura Gross (Skokie, IL/Niles West) and Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge). Rasak, who also recorded an assist in the game, now has seven points this season on two goals and three assists. It was the second career goal for Stevenson and the first for Gross.

Goalkeeper Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) even got in on the scoring. When the Foresters were awarded a penalty kick early in the second half, head coach T.R. Bell sent the senior in and she delivered her first career goal. A Knox score in the second half was the first goal allowed by LaFin this season, breaking a string of more than 200 scoreless minutes.

Lake Forest will take the field again on Wednesday (September 11) at 4:30 p.m. when it plays host to North Park University. The Foresters next Midwest Conference game will be next Saturday (September 14) at Lawrence University.
