Lake Forest Falls to Nation’s #2 Team
Chicago hands Foresters first loss of 2004

CHICAGO, IL - The Forester women’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at the University of Chicago on Tuesday (September 7). Lake Forest’s record dropped to 1-1 with the loss while Chicago, the #2-ranked team in the nation, raised its record to 2-0.

The Maroons scored their first goal at the game’s 15:49 mark. The home team’s second score did not occur until there was just 6:56 remaining in the game.

Forester sophomore goalkeeper Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) tallied 13 saves in the game, the second-highest total of her career. She had 15 stops in a game at Carroll College last October. Operzedek has now stopped 21 of 23 shots on goal this season, a percentage of .913.

Lake Forest will play a pair of Midwest Conference games this weekend (September 11-12). The team will travel to Knox College for a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday and will host Ripon College at the same time on Sunday. Sunday’s contest will be the team’s first on the synthetic playing surface of the newly renovated Farwell Field.
