Fink Sisters Help Lake Forest to 7-0 Rout of Knox
Foresters allow no shot attempts in victory

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team started their 2001 Midwest Conference season with a convincing 7-0 victory over visiting Knox College on Saturday (September 8th). The Foresters are now 2-0 overall on the season, 1-0 in the MWC this year, and 8-0 all-time against Knox.

There were plenty of scoring highlights for the Foresters. Freshman forward Carinn Rasak (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Prepoaratory) continued to establish herself as a consistent scoring threat with two of the Foresters first three goals. Rasak also had a goal and an assist in the season opener on Wednesday (September 5th). Senior forward Sandi Coutts (Round Lake, IL/College of Lake County) scored her fourth goal and added her second assist of the season. Senior midfielder Stacy Gunstream (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) assisted on two goals for the second game in a row, giving her four for the season and 23 for her career, one shy of second place in the Forester record book. Freshman midfielders Mei-Yun Gibson (Aurora, CO/Eaglecrest) and Lauren McHugh (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) notched two assists and one goal, respectively, for the first points of their careers.

Perhaps the most interesting scoring note, however, was that sisters Kristen and Stephanie Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) each scored a goal. Kristen, a freshman midfielder, scored the Foresters' fourth goal just before halftime and Stephanie, a sophomore forward, scored less than 20 minutes into the second half. Keep an eye on these two as their Lake Forest careers unfold together.

On the defensive side, Lake Forest did not allow Knox to get off even one shot attempt all game long. Juniors Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) and Amanda Potts (Verona, NJ/Verona) shared the goalkeeping responsibilities, with LaFin playing the first half and Potts taking care of the final 45 minutes.

The Foresters next opponent will be North Central College, who they will host on Wednesday (September 12th) at 4:30 pm. The next Midwest Conference game will be at home next Sunday (September 16th) against St. Norbert College at 1:00 pm.
