Foresters Win Midwest Conference Opener at Ripon 5-0

RIPON, Wis. - The Lake Forest College women’s soccer team won 5-0 at Ripon College Saturday (September 8) afternoon in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams. The Foresters are now 2-1-1 overall while the Red Hawks fell to 0-3-0.

Freshman Mackenzie Yates (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Preparatory School) scored the first goal of the game just 12:10 into the contest. Her team-high third goal of the season was assisted by classmate Bianca Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica). Sophomore Emily Sadler (Everett, Wash./Cascade Senior) doubled the Foresters advantage at 43:52 off an assist from freshman Emily Weber (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills Upper School).

Sophomore Monica Thomas (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) made the score 3-0 just 65 seconds into the second half with her second goal of the year. She was assisted by junior Katie Rice (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest). Weber scored for the first time in her career five minutes later off another assist from Greene. Sadler closed out the scoring with her second goal of the game and season at 72:29. Senior Brittany Macleod (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) was credited with the assist.

Junior goalkeeper Alison Lynch (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) needed just one save to record her second shutout of the season.

After beginning the season with four road games, the Foresters will play at home for the first time in 2007 next Saturday (September 15) against Knox College. The Midwest Conference contest will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon.
