Kathryn Zaccarello
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College women’s tennis team, whose primary season is in the fall, played a pair of matches this spring. The Foresters fell 5-4 at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Thursday, April 12, and was defeated 9-0 at home by Concordia University (Wis.) a week later. The losses drop the team’s record on the year to 6-7.

The Foresters won two of the three doubles matches at Wisconsin Lutheran. Freshmen Anna Mahar (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) and Kathryn Zaccarello (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) blanked their opponent 8-0 at number two and fellow freshmen Hayley Roberts (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) and Louise Lloyd Owen (Newfields, N.H./Berwick Academy) combined for an 8-1 triumph at three.

Zaccarello was also victorious at number three singles, defeating her opponent 7-6 (7-2), 7-5. Freshman Viri Del Bosque (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) earned the Foresters’ other singles point with an 8-3 win at number four.

Zaccarello and Del Bosque came close to winning again against Concordia. Both split the first two sets at numbers three and four singles, respectively, before falling in a third-set tiebreak.

The matches were the only two contests on the team’s spring schedule.
