Foresters Defeat Robert Morris in First of Three Spring Matches
Seven different Foresters win once in the contest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College women's tennis team hosted and defeated Robert Morris College 5-4 on Wednesday (April 8). The victory raised the Foresters' record during the 2008-09 academic year to 8-7.

Lake Forest won 8-2 at each of the top two spots in the doubles lineup. Freshmen Nonie Carson (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) and Sara Bennett (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North) played at #1 and sophomore Natalie Atroshenko (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) teamed up with freshman Helen Somes (Wellesley, Mass./Dana Hall School), who was making her collegiate debut, at #2.

The teams split the six singles matches. Sophomore Deepika Ramachandran (Mumbai, India/Mahindra United World College) registered a 7-5, 6-2 victory at #5 and sophomore Lauren Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) prevailed 4-6, 6-3, (10-7) at #3. The final point for the Foresters came at #2 where freshman Allison Hamel (Bend, Ore./Bend) triumphed 6-1, 6-0.

The Foresters will host a pair of matches at Lake Forest High School on Sunday, April 19. The team will take on Benedictine University at 9:00 in the morning and Lawrence University at 3:00 that afternoon.
