Alli Berry Named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week
Junior set school record and helped team reach MWC Tournament

Alli Berry
Lake Forest, Ill. - Lake Forest College women’s tennis player Alli Berry (Plymouth, Minn./ Robbinsdale Armstrong) was selected as the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday (October 10) for her performance over the weekend (October 7-8) in the team’s three MWC South Division matches.

Berry, a junior, started the weekend on Saturday with her most important singles victory of the season, defeating Monmouth College’s top player 6-2, 2-6, 6-0. The win was her team’s fifth and deciding point in a 5-4 triumph over Monmouth College. Just two teams from each division qualify for the league tournament and Monmouth placed third in the South behind the Foresters.

Later Saturday, Berry prevailed 8-6 at number one doubles and 6-0, 6-0 at the top singles spot in Lake Forest’s 7-2 victory at Knox College. The win officially put the Foresters in the league tournament and Berry’s triumph at number one singles was the school record 29th at that position in her career, surpassing the mark of 28 set by Kristen Ang in 1989.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league’s sports information director. Berry also earned the award once each of the last two seasons.
