LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College women’s tennis player Alli Berry (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (October 18) for her performance at the Midwest Conference Tournament over the weekend (October 12-14).

Berry, a senior, began the weekend by earning Lake Forest’s only two points in Friday’s team tournament. She fell at number one doubles as the Foresters were defeated 5-0 by St. Norbert College in the semifinals before winning at both number one doubles and singles in the team’s 5-2 loss to Carroll College in the third-place match.

Lake Forest’s top tandem won 6-1, 6-3 in the first round of Saturday’s doubles tournaments before falling 7-6, 6-1 to the eventual conference champions in the quarterfinals.

On Sunday, Berry defeated the top player from Carroll and team champion Grinnell College by identical 6-3, 6-3 scores to reach the championship match, where she fell 6-3, 6-2. It was Berry’s highest career finish in four years as the Foresters’ best singles player.
