ANGIE KRAL NAMED FORESTER ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lake Forest women's tennis athlete Angie
Kral (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central High School) has been named
the Forester Athlete of the Week. Kral finished the week undefeated in
both singles and doubles play as the Foresters captured the school's first-ever
Midwest Conference Team Championship and Kral won both an individual singles
and doubles title. At the four-team MWC Team Championship Tournament on
Friday (Oct. 15) in Rock Island, IL, Lake Forest knocked off Carroll, 5-2,
in the semifinals before defeating Beloit, 5-3, in the finals. From her
No. 4 singles position, Kral won 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 versus Carroll and was leading
6-4, 2-6, 4-2 against Beloit when the match ended due to Lake Forest securing
the win with their fifth team point. In doubles action, Kral teamed with
senior Elizabeth King at No. 3. Kral and King were
leading 6-3, 4-1 versus Carroll and won 6-3, 6-3 versus Beloit. The following
day, the duo rattled off three consecutive straight-set wins to claim the
MWC title at No. 3 doubles. They never dropped more than two games in a
set. Kral followed her doubles title with a singles championship on Sunday.
She outlasted Grinnell (6-3, 7-5), St. Norbert (6-3, 7-5), and Beloit (6-3,
6-3).
