Foresters Edge Out Concordia Wisconsin 5-4
Alli Berry wins at #1 singles and doubles

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College women’s tennis team hosted and defeated Concordia University Wisconsin 5-4 on Thursday (October 4). The Foresters are now 6-5 on the season while the Falcons suffered just their third loss in 14 matches.

Lake Forest won two of the three doubles matches. Senior Alli Berry (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) and junior Anne Demere (Savannah, Ga./Saint Vincent's Academy) prevailed 9-8 (7-5) at number one and sophomores Hayley Roberts (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) and Kathryn Zaccarello (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) teamed up for an 8-3 triumph at three.

Berry posted a 6-4, 1-6, (10-3) victory at the top spot in the singles lineup to raise her dual match record on the year to 9-2. Sophomore Viri Del Bosque (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at number five and freshman Lauren Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) prevailed 6-2, 6-1 at six.

The Foresters will be the South Division’s number two seed at next Friday’s (October 12) Midwest Conference Team Championship Tournament at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Illinois.. They will face St. Norbert College, the North’s top seed, in the semifinals beginning at 9:00 a.m. Grinnell College, the top seed in the South, will face Carroll College, the number two seed in the North, in the other semifinal. The championship and third place matches will follow and the individual singles and doubles tournaments will be played the following two days at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
