October 5th, 2002 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Forester's Road Weekend Involves Two Losses
On Friday (October 4th) versus Ripon College, the Foresters were led by senior captain Angie Kral (Brookfield, WI/Central) and freshman Brittany Richardson (Little Rock, AR/Central), when the two contributed three of Lake Forest's four points in the match. Kral won at number two singles (6-1, 7-6 (7-4)), and Richardson at number one singles (2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5)), before teaming up to take number one doubles (8-2). Also scoring for the Foresters was senior Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Granite City), in her debut at number six (3-6, 6-4, 7-6(7-5)). Lake Forest continued up to De Pere, Wisconsin on Saturday (October 5th) for a mid-day match versus St. Norbert College. Kral and Slater contributed again for the Foresters with wins at number two singles (3-6, 6-1, 6-1) and number five singles (6-3, 7-5), respectively. Scoring the last point for Lake Forest was junior Abbey Jennings (Logan, OH/Logan). Making her second appearance at number four singles, Jennings defeated her opponent in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). The Foresters will return to the courts Tuesday (October 8th) when they
host the University of Chicago in their regular season finale. The
match will take place at Lake Forest High School's West Campus and will
begin at 3:00 p.m. Lake Forest will then compete in the Midwest Conference
Team Championship on Friday (October 11th), where they will be the South
Division's number one seed. The tournament will be held in Rockford,
Illinois at a time yet to be determined. The Singles and Doubles
tournaments in Madison, Wisconsin will follow the team championship on
Saturday and Sunday (October 12th - 13th).
