Pieczkiewicz Sets New Record With 49th Career Singles Victory
Foresters finish regular season with 9-0 sweep of the University of Chicago

Head Coach Chris Conger
Senior captain Jackie Pieczkiewicz sets a new school record with career singles victory number 49.

LAKE FOREST, IL - Coming off a weekend in which it dropped two road matches, the women's tennis team returned home looking to finish off its season on a winning note.  Playing host to the University of Chicago, the Foresters made quick work of their opponent, completing a perfect 9-0 sweep.

On a historic note, senior captain Jackie Pieczkiewicz (Grayslake, IL/Grayslake) set a new school record with her victory at number three singles (7-5, 1-6, (10-6)) in her final regular season match.  The win marked the 49th of her illustrious career and placed her atop the school's all-time singles win list.  Entering the season, Pieczkiewicz was 11 victories behind leader Jaime Irons '01, but her tremendous 12-2 record throughout the regular season was enough to elevate her to number one in school history.

The other six Foresters also recorded victories, with five contributing two wins on the afternoon.  Once again, the team of senior Angie Kral (Brookfield, WI/Central) and freshman Brittany Richardson (Little Rock, AR/Central) paired up for their third victory at number one doubles (6-0).  Richardson and Kral also won at number one (6-7 (4-7), 6-4, (11-9)) and two singles (6-1, 6-1), respectively.  Pairing for the first time this season, the number three doubles team of Ashley Wiegner (Langhorne, PA/The Hill School) and Shannon Pyle (Chatham, IL/ Glenwood) added a point with their victory (8-3).  Earlier in the day, Wiegner also tallied a win at number six singles (6-2, 6-2).  Senior Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Granite City) scored a point for the Foresters with a straight set win at number five singles (6-1, 6-1) in her final regular season match.

Lake Forest will now prepare for the Midwest Conference Team Championship on Friday (October 11th), where they will be the South Division's number one seed.  The tournament will be held in Rockford, Illinois and will begin at 9:00 a.m.  The Singles and Doubles tournaments in Madison, Wisconsin will follow the team championship on Saturday and Sunday (October 12th - 13th).
