Women's Tennis Opens Season With Convincing Win Over Concordia 

LAKE FOREST, IL - After having their first two scheduled matches of the season postponed, the defending Midwest Conference champion Lake Forest College women's tennis team finally opened their 2000 campaign. 

The 7-2 win over visiting Concordia University (IL) on Tuesday (September 12th) ran the Forester's team winning streak to five matches. The win was also Lake Forest's ninth in their last ten matches and 14th win in their last 17 outings. 

Freshman Sarah Roberts won both her singles (No. 4) and doubles (No. 3) matches. She paired with fellow freshman Laura Lauterbach to pick up the Forester's only doubles victory.

Lake Forest swept all six singles matches and outscored CU 73-21, including a 36-3 advantage in the No. 4-6 matches. Roberts won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, Jamie Irons dropped just one game in each set to win, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5, and Jackie Pieczkiewicz blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6.

Shannon Sobieski at No. 1, Kendra Reilly at No. 2, and Angie Kral at No. 3 also recorded singles wins for Lake Forest.

The Foresters, now 1-0 on the young season, will be back in action this Friday (September 15th) for the first of four straight days of matches. Lake Forest will host Lawrence University on Friday, followed by matches with Illinois College, at Carthage College, and at North Central College.
