Women's Tennis Continues 2000 Dominance with 9-0 Win Over IC

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest defeated visiting Illinois College on Saturday (September 16th), 9-0, in their Midwest Conference South Division opener. It was the defending conference champions second 9-0 win in as many days. Through three matches this season, Lake Forest is undefeated and has not dropped a set in singles' action. 

Versus IC on Saturday, Lake Forest outscored the Lady Blues 111 games to 13. The Foresters have outscored their last two opponents 186 to 37. 

Two Foresters - Sarah Roberts at No. 4 and Jackie Pieczkiewicz at No. 6 - picked up 6-0, 6-0 singles wins. No Forester lost more than two games during their singles match or three total games in doubles. 

Senior Shannon Sobieski won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, sophomore Kenrda Reilly picked up an easy 6-0, 6-1 win a No. 2, junior Jamie Irons won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5, and Angie Kral picked up an injury default win at No. 3. 

In doubles action, Reilly and Kral teamed for a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. It was the pair's first win of the 2000 season. Sobieski and Irons improved their record to 2-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2, while Roberts and Laura Lauterbach won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Roberts and Lauterbach are 3-0 on the young season.

Lake Forest will travel to Carthage Sunday (September 17th) for the team's first road contest of the season. Carthage was one of just three teams to beat Lake Forest in 1999. Carthage won 8-1 last year in Lake Forest. Since the loss to Carthage last year, the Foresters have rattled off wins in 11 of their last 12 matches, including their current streak of seven straight.
