Sophomore Brittany Richardson led the way with her victory at number one singles
LAKE FOREST, IL - Setting out to defend their four straight MWC South division championships, the Lake Forest College women's tennis team traveled to Jacksonville, Illinois for a dual meet featuring rivals Grinnell College and Illinois College.  The Foresters returned home splitting the weekend matches and keeping their hopes alive for a fifth straight title.

The Foresters opened the day facing Grinnell College who they had successfully defeated three of the last four times the two met.  This time the Pioneers turned the table, taking the match 7-2. The Foresters continued to get solid contributions from freshman Jill Chudacoff (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) and senior Abbey Jennings (Logan, OH/Logan). Chudacoff earned the Foresters first point, and notched her sixth win of the season, with 6-2, 6-4 victory at number four singles while Jennings won for the fifth time this season, recording a 7-5, 6-3 victory at number six singles.

Later in the afternoon, Lake Forest took out all of their frustrations on host Illinois College.  Every player recorded at least one win in the 8-1 drubbing, led by sophomore captain Brittany Richardson's (Little Rock, AK/Central) victory at number one singles (6-1, 6-1).  Chudacoff and Jennings combined to win three matches with the first being an 8-0 victory at number three doubles (8-0). Later, the two cruised to wins at number three (6-0, 6-1) and four (6-1, 6-1) singles respectively. Others winning two matches were freshmen Kendal Wapotish (McHenry, IL/McHenry) and Emily Bell (Chicago, IL/San Francisco Univ. H.S.).  The two won easily at number two doubles (8-0) before straight set wins at number five (6-0, 6-0) and six singles (6-1, 6-0). Rounding out the scoring was freshman Anastasia Rudkovskaya (Buffalo Grove, IL/Buffalo Grove). Rudkovskaya recorded her first collegiate victory with a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory at number two singles.

The Foresters wrap up their six-match road swing Wednesday (September 24) in Beloit, Wisconsin when they take on Beloit College a 3:00pm. They then return home on Saturday (September 27) when they host Knox College (10:00am) and Monmouth College (1:00pm).
