Alli Berry Reaches Round of 16 at ITA Regional Tournament
Foresters compete at ITA Tourney and Fall Invite at Gustavus Adolphus

SAINT PETER, Minn. - Select Forester women’s tennis players traveled to Gustavus Adolphus College over the weekend (September 21-23) to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Tournament or the Fall Invitational.

Senior Alli Berry (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong), the team’s top player, won 6-1 in the first round and 6-1, 6-2 in the second to reached the ITA Tourney’s round of 16, where she was defeated by the eventual runner-up. Berry and junior Anne Demere (Savannah, Ga./Saint Vincent's Academy) also competed in doubles at the event. After falling in the opening round, the duo won a pair of matches in the consolation bracket – one by default and the other 8-1 – before falling in the semifinals.

Sophomore Molly Stapleton (St. Louis Park, Minn./Saint Louis Park) and freshman Iona O’Donnell (Nottingham, England/Dundle School) competed in the Fall Invitational. Stapleton fell in the first round of singles play but rebounded by posting 8-6, 8-4, and 8-2 victories before falling in the finals of the consolation bracket. Stapleton and O’Donnell were knocked off in round one of doubles play before registering an 8-2 triumph in the first round of the consolation bracket. They were then defeated in the quarterfinals.

The Foresters’ next dual match is on Tuesday (September 25) at Carthage College. The contest will begin at 5:00 p.m.
