Foresters Fall 5-4 in Match that Began Three Weeks Earlier
North Central defeats Lake Forest 5-4

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College women's tennis team was edged out 5-4 by visiting North Central College on Thursday (September 25). The match actually began on September 2 at North Central but was suspended during singles play because of lightning. The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the year to 4-6 and the Cardinals raised their mark to 10-1.

Lake Forest won one of the three doubles matches on September 2. Junior Molly Stapleton (St. Louis Park, Minn./Saint Louis Park) and sophomore Natalie Atroshenko (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) recorded the victory, an 8-5 decision at the #2 spot in the lineup.

The teams split the six singles matches with North Central claiming victories at the odd-numbered positions and Lake Forest the even. Freshman Allison Hamel (Bend, Ore./Bend) won 6-2, 7-5 at #2, sophomore Lauren Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) prevailed 7-5, 6-0 at #4, and sophomore Deepika Ramachandran (Mumbai, India/Mahindra United World College) outlasted her opponent at #6 by a score of 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), (10-7).

The Foresters will travel to Benedictine University for a 1:00 match Saturday afternoon (September 27). The team's next home match will be the following Thursday (October 2) against Elmhurst College at 3:00 p.m.
