LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester women’s tennis team hosted and defeated Illinois College 8-1 Saturday (September 25) to clinch a spot in the four-team Midwest Conference Team Tournament on October 15. Lake Forest completed its MWC South Division schedule with a 3-1 record and placed second behind unbeaten Grinnell College. The Foresters also raised their overall record to 8-4 with 7-2 victories over both St. Norbert College and Beloit College on Sunday (September 26).

Freshman Alli Berry (Plymouth, MN/Robbinsdale Armstrong) teamed up with junior Brittany Richardson (Little Rock, AR/Central) for a shutout win at number one doubles and also added a victory at the top singles spot. Sophomores Anastasia Rudkovskaya (Buffalo Grove, IL/Buffalo Grove) and Kendal Wapotish (McHenry, IL/McHenry) also triumphed without losing a game at number two doubles and enjoyed convincing victories at numbers two and three singles, respectively. Freshman Jaime Jackson (Milwaukee, WI/Divine Savios-Holy Angels) blanked her opponent at number five singles and joined junior Jill Chudacoff (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) to prevail at number three doubles. Freshman Heather Kelly (Narangansett, RI/Narangansett) earned the team’s other point with a win at number four singles.

The Foresters were also victorious at all three doubles positions against St. Norbert, although the pairings were different. Berry and Rudkovskaya won at number one, Richardson and Wapotish at number two, and Chudacoff and Jackson at number three. Berry, Richardson, Chudacoff, and Rudkovskaya claimed victories at numbers one through four singles, respectively.

Beloit defeated Lake Forest at number two doubles but the home team’s Berry and Richardson won at number one and Chudacoff and Jackson triumphed at number three. Berry won by default at number one singles and Richardson took the match at number two. Chudacoff needed three sets to earn the victory at number three and both Kelley and Jackson won convincingly at five and six, respectively.

The Foresters will be in action again on Wednesday (September 29) at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
