WAUKESHA, WI - The Lake Forest College women’s tennis team opened the 2005 season with a 9-0 victory at Carroll College on Saturday (September 3). It was the Foresters’ ninth consecutive win over the Lady Pioneers but their most lopsided in six years.

Lake Forest began the match with victories at all three doubles positions. Sophomore Alli Berry (Plymouth, MN/Robbinsdale Armstrong) and senior Brittany Richardson (Little Rock, AR/Central) shut out Carroll’s number one team 8-0. Senior Jill Chudacoff (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) and freshman Anne Demere (Savannah, GA/Saint Vincent's Academy) won 8-6 at number two and junior Kendal Wapotish (McHenry, IL/McHenry) teamed up with sophomore Jaime Jackson (Milwaukee, WI/Divine Savior-Holy Angels) for an 8-5 triumph at number three.

Berry prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at the top singles position to finish the day without surrendering a single game. Richardson (6-2, 6-2) and Jackson (6-1, 6-4) also won convincingly at numbers two and six. The matches at three, four, and five were much more highly contested. Chudacoff defeated the Lady Pioneers’ number three player 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) and Wapotish won by the same exact score at number five. The closest match of the contest came at number four singles, where junior Anastasia Rudkovskaya (Buffalo Grove, IL/Buffalo Grove) outlasted her counterpart 5-7, 6-2, 7-5.

The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference South Division play next Saturday (September 10) with a pair of matches at Illinois College. Lake Forest will take on defending league champion Grinnell College at noon and the host Lady Blues at 4:00 p.m.
