September 7, 2008 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Lake Forest Wins One of Three Road Matches over the Weekend
The Foresters took two of the three doubles matches at Ripon. Freshman Nonie Carson (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) and seniro Anne Demere (Savannah, Ga./Saint Vincent's Academy) prevailed 8-3 at #2 and junior Viri Del Bosque (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) partnered with sophomore Michelle Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) on an 8-6 triumph at #3. Lake Forest then claimed five of the six singles matches, falling only at #5. Carson won 6-2, 6-1 at the top spot in the lineup and freshman Allison Hamel (Bend, Ore./Bend) reversed those scores in her victory at #2. Junior Molly Stapleton (St. Louis Park, Minn./Saint Louis Park) triumphed 6-3, 7-5 at #3 and sophomore Lauren Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) won 6-2, 6-1 at #4. Sophomore Natalie Atroshenko (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) recorded the only three-set victory of the match, a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 decision at #6. The Foresters' three points at St. Norbert came at the bottom three spots in the singles lineup. Lauren Stroner won 7-5, 6-3 at #4, freshman Sara Bennett (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North) prevailed 6-4, 6-1 at #5, and sophomore Deepika Ramachandran (Mumbai, India/Mahindra United World College) triumphed 3-6, 6-3, (10-5) at #6. A pair of singles victories accounted for Lake Forest's two points at Lawrence. Lauren Stroner remained perfect in singles play on the season with a 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, (10-4) win at #4. Ramachandran as back in the lineup at #6 and prevailed 6-4, 6-3. The Foresters will host Dominican University next Saturday (September 14) at 10:30 a.m. The Foresters will then travel to Carroll University the next day for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
