Lake Forest Begins 2004 with 8-1 Victory at Benedictine
Six different Foresters win at least once

LISLE, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s tennis team began its 2004 season with a convincing 8-1 victory at Benedictine University on Tuesday (September 8). It was the Eagles first loss of the year in three matches.

Lake Forest took two of the three doubles matches to take the early lead. Freshman Alli Berry (Plymouth, MN/Robbinsdale Armstrong) and sophomore Anastasia Rudkovskaya (Buffalo Grove, IL/Buffalo Grove) teamed up to win 6-3, 7-5 at number one. The number two team of junior Brittany Richardson (Little Rock, AR/Central) and sophomore Kendal Wapotish (McHenry, IL/McHenry) dropped the first set 6-4 but rebounded to take the last two 6-4 and 6-3.

The Foresters swept the six singles matches. Berry won 6-2 in both sets at number one. Richardson, claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win at number two and junior Jill Chudacoff (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) triumphed 6-1, 6-0 at number three. Rudkovskaya and Wapotich each earned her second victory of the day with 6-3, 6-1 wins at number four and five, respectively. Freshman Heather Kelley (Narangansett, RI/Narangansett) prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at number six in her first collegiate singles match.

Lake Forest will play a pair of matches at Carthage College on Saturday (September 11). The team will take on Cornell College at 9:00 a.m. and Wheaton College at 2:00 in the afternoon. The Foresters will also host Lawrence University at 10:00 Sunday (September 12) morning.
