This course is an introduction to the basic principles and concepts of American political behavior and institutions. We will cover the three branches of government, interest groups, voting and elections, parties, public opinion, and more. Attention to current political events its a crucial part of the learning process so much of what we will be doing will be related to actual modern political situations and problems. We'll be reading The New York Times to keep up with Supreme Court decisions, congressional action, and the presidential and congressional elections.
