Inducted 1979 ![]() Entering Lake Forest in 1936, Richard was a four time participant on both the football and baseball teams. He was a left halfback on the 1938 undefeated, untied team. He also played third base on the baseball team and was a member of the Letterman's Club and Kappa Sigma fraternity. After college, Richard continued to play football as a member of the Glen Ellyn Bears, a semi-professional team. Following graduation, Richard, a economics and education major, was a Lieutenant in the Navy during World War II. When he returned from the war, he worked at the Spring Grove Lumber Company where he was a general manager. He and his wife, Harriette '40, were the first husband and wife to be inducted into the Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame.
