Feeney, Mildebrath, and Furgerson Earn All-Region Honors
Mildebrath and Furgerson honored for third straight year

LAKE FOREST, IL - Louisville Slugger and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released their NCAA Division III All-Region teams Thursday (May 6) and three players from Lake Forest College made the list. Juniors Alissa Mildebrath (Carol Stream, IL/West Chicago) and Kristen Feeney (Brookfield, IL/Lyons Township) were Second Team All-Great Lakes Region selections and senior Leigh Anne Furgerson (Carmel, IN/Westfield) earned Third Team honors.

Furgerson was also a Third Team selection in 2002 and a Second Team choice last year. The team’s ace leads the 2004 Foresters with a 14-4 record and a 0.99 earned run average. She also holds school records with 50 career victories, 53 complete games, and 469.2 innings pitched. Furgerson ranks second in school history with a dozen career shutouts, 242 strikeouts, a .704 (50-21) winning percentage, and a 1.34 ERA.

Mildebrath is also a three-time all-region selection after being selected to the Second Team as a freshman and earning First Team All-Region and All-American honors last season. This year the infielder is batting .320 with two home runs and 15 runs batted in and leads the squad with 28 runs scored. Mildebrath is the school’s all-time leader with 13 home runs and 202 total bases in her career and ranks among the top five in school history in slugging percentage, base hits, runs scored, and doubles.

Feeney’s breakout season in 2004 garnered Second Team All-Region recognintion. The third baseman and outfielder leads Lake Forest with a .388 batting average, 45 base hits, a .578 slugging percentage, and a .437 on-base percentage. She is also tied for the team lead with 27 runs batted in and has already set a single-season school record with 14 doubles. In addition, she ranks second on the squad with 25 runs scored, tied-for-second with eight stolen bases in as many attempts, and tied-for-third with a pair of home runs.

The Foresters are currently 26-11 on the year and will compete in the NCAA Regional Tournament in Alma Michigan, this weekend (May 7-10).
