Lake Forest's Joe Kinsella and Tracy Rainey are MWC South Coach and Player of the Year
Five other Foresters earn all-conference honors, including three more first teamers

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The 2009 All-Midwest Conference softball teams were released on Thursday (May 7). Six Lake Forest College players were listed for the South Division, including the division's Position Player of the Year, and three more appeared on the First Team.
In addition, head coach Joe Kinsella
was named MWC South Coach of the Year.
Kinsella led the Foresters to a 10-3 record in league play their fourth consecutive division title. The team is now 29-5 in MWC games during his three seasons as head coach. It was his second career conference coach of the year honor after earning the award in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference while coaching at Millsaps College in 2003.
Junior Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) was named MWC South Division Player of the Year after leading the Foresters in most offensive categories. She set one school record with 18 doubles on the year and tied another with 54 base hits. The shortstop's .482 batting average, .777 slugging percentage, 40 runs batted in, 87 total bases, and 15-game hitting streak all rank among the top three in team history. She batted .420 with five doubles, three home runs, and 12 runs batted in during the 13-game league schedule. It was her second straight first team all-conference selection after earning second team honors as a freshman. She was also named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region by Louisville Slugger and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Juniors Mallory Norton (Chicago, Ill./ Resurrection), Jeanette Andresen (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South), and Sam Pinsonneault (Manchester, N.H./New Hampton) joined Rainey on the South Division's First Team. Norton, a first team selection as a freshman and a second team choice last year, batted .414 overall on the season and finished second in the conference at .468 during league play. The third baseman also finished among the league leader in runs, hits,
runs batted in, and total bases. She was also named Third-Team All-Region on Tuesday. Andresen, a pitcher and outfielder, was 5-1 with a 3.78 earned run average while batting .421 in conference games.
She batted .295 overall with four homers and 14 RBI. Pinsonneault finished just behind Norton with a .467 batting average in MWC contests and ranked fourth with a .529 on-base percentage. The outfielder hit .404 overall with a .452 on-base percentage and .509 slugging percentage.
It was the first career all-conference selection for both Andresen and Pinsonneault.

Senior outfielder Hannah Michal (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake) and junior first baseman Shelby Neill (Manitou Beach, Mich./Lenawee Christian) were second team selections. Michal, who also earned second team honors in 2007, batted .379 with 29 runs scored on the season. The Foresters' leadoff hitter posted an on-base percentage of .471 and stole a team-high five bases. Neill batted .372 and tied for the league lead with 20 runs batted in during conference games. She also tied for second with four home runs and ranked fifth with a .744 slugging percentage during MWC play. She was also a second team selection last year after earning co-position player of the year honors as a freshman.
