Foresters Close out 2006 Season at NCAA Midwest Regional
Leann Kimmons improves on 6K school record

Davenport, Iowa - The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on Saturday (November 11). The Forester women placed 24th in the standings while the men finished 33rd.

Senior Leann Kimmons (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) was the first Lake Forest runner to cross the line in the 6-kilometer women’s race and her time of 23:24 was 30 seconds better than the school record that she set five weeks earlier. Kimmons placed 75th in the 268-runner race and classmate Katie Snowden (Toronto, Ontario/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was next on the team in 87th place with a time of 23:50. Sophomore Diane Stajszczak (Boulder City, Nev./Boulder City) finished 122nd in 24:34, junior Samantha Yozze (Lemont, Ill./College of Dupage) was 161st in 25:26, and sophomore Sarah Marrinan (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Cathedral) rounded out the top five in 196th place with a time of 26:42.

Sophomore Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) led the men’s team with a 159th-place finish and a career-best 8-kilometer time of 28:01. Freshman John Thies (Los Angeles, Calif./Saint Francis) completed the course 28 seconds later in 181st place. Sophomore Asa Reynolds (Bethesda, Md./Walt Witman) finished 215th in 29:54, classmate Levi Paul (Austin, Minn./Governor Dummer) was 224th in 30:16, and fellow sophomore Reuben Sanyika (Harare, Zimbabwe/Li Po Chun World College) placed 242nd in 31:17.

It was the second-best finish at the Regional Meet in the program’s 12 seasons.
