VERNON HILLS, IL - For the first time in the program's history, the Lake Forest College cross country teams hosted the Midwest Conference Championship Meet on Saturday (November 1). The Forester women placed ninth and the men sixth at the meet, which was held at Half Day Forest Preserve in nearby Vernon Hills. St. Norbert College won its second straight women's team title and Grinnell College's men were victorious for the seventh consecutive season and the 17th time in the last 18 years.

The top 15 runners earn all-conference honors, and Lake Forest had one in each race. Freshman Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) placed 11th in the men's 8K race with a school record time of 26:46. The previous mark was held by sophomore teammate Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior), who had a time of 27:02 on the same course last season. Freshman Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was tenth in the women's 5K with a season-best time of 19:37, which ranks fourth in the program's nine-year history.

Freshman Estafania Luna (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) was the second Forester woman to cross the line. She placed 34th with a season-best time of 21:09. Sophomore Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) and freshmen Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit) and Ashley Brant (John's Island, SC/Old Fields School) also recorded season-best times of 21:30, 21:56, and 22:47, respectively, and completed the squad's top five.

Meiring placed 22nd in 27:21 and now has four of the program's best 11 times. The men's team had five runners finish in less than 29 minutes for the first time in school history. Senior Beau Llewellyn (Oro Station, ON/Eastview Secondary School) was 36th in 28:04 (20th in school history), sophomore Chris Driscoll (Lake Forest, IL/Pope John XXIII Regional) 42nd in 28:23, and junior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) 52nd in 28:49.

Select Foresters will compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional Meet on Saturday, November 15, in Colfax, Wisconsin.
