Foresters Close Out Season at NCAA Regional Meet
Snowden and Hankosky lead Lake Forest

PEORIA, IL - The Lake Forest College cross country teams completed their 2005 season at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meet on Saturday (November 12). Washington University and Greenville College hosted the meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria, Illinois. The Forester women placed 26th in the meet and the men’s team was not complete. Washington University claimed first place on the women’s side and UW-La Crosse won the men’s competition.

Junior Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was the first Forester female finisher in 93rd place out of 260 runners. She completed the course in 23:54, the program’s fastest 6-kilometer time. Classmate Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) placed 130th in 24:59 and senior Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) crossed the line just six spots and nine seconds later. Juniors Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit) and Ashley Brant (Newport Beach, CA/Old Fields School) rounded out the team’s top five in 182nd and 188th place, respectively.

Junior Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) was the top runner for the Lake Forest men. He completed the 8-kilometer course in 27:31, good for 127th place out of 242 competitors. Freshman Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, CA/Sequoia) was next in 152nd place with a time of 28:09 and senior Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) finished 23 seconds later in 167th place.

Lindsey and Katie Lupo (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie) were the only two seniors on this year’s women’s team and men’s team will lose Meiring, Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity), and Michael Wollar (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) to graduation next May.
