Fifth Annual Forester Invitational
St. Norbert College placed first in each event. Northwestern University was second and Grinnell College third on the women's side. Concordia University (IL) and Ripon College were second and third, respectively, in the men's competition. Lake Forest's top runner in each race was the same as it has been all season. Freshman Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) finished seventh overall in the women's 5K with a season-best time of 19:53, the fifth-fastest mark in school history. She became just the fourth Forester in the program's nine years to finish a 5K race in less than 20 minutes. On the men's side, freshman Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) placed sixth overall with an 8K time of 27:10, the third-fastest time in school history. He missed sophomore Derek Meiring's (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) school record by just eight seconds. Two more women and a pair of men also ran career-best times at the meet. Sophomore Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) and freshman Ashley Brant (John's Island, SC/Old Fields School) placed 36th and 91st in the women's race with times of 21:54 and 24:34, respectively. Senior Beau Llewellyn (Oro Station, ON/Eastview Secondary School) and freshman Chris Driscoll (Lake Forest, IL/Pope John XXIII Regional) finished 22nd and 23rd in the men's field with times of 28:58 and 29:03, respectively. Freshmen Estefania Luna (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) and Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit) were also in the women's team's top five, placing 50th and 52nd in the race, respectively. Meiring finished 19th in the men's race and senior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) rounded out the team's top five in 27th. The Foresters will compete in the UW-Parkside Invite next Saturday (October 18) afternoon at 1:00 p.m. After a weekend off, Lake Forest will host the Midwest Conference Championship Meet on November 1.
