Meiring Finishes 14th at Carthage Invitational
Freshman runs 15th-fastest time in school history
  

Derek Meiring's 28:09 is the 15th-fastest in school history.
KENOSHA, WI - The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed in the Carthage Invitational Saturday (October 12). The men's team placed seventh in the 11-team field while the women finished eighth. Lewis University and St. Norbert College won the men's and women's team championships, respectively.

For the fourth time in six races this season, senior Erin Motzer (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) was the top runner on the women's team. She completed the 5-kilometer course in 21:54, good for 32nd place overall. Freshman Elisabeth Lewis (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Black Forest Academy) recorded a season-best time of 22:04 and finished 36th. Junior Lee Winklepleck (Shaker Heights, OH/Hathaway Brown) was just 20 seconds back and in 41st place.

In the men's 8-kilometer race, freshman Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) continued to post impressive times with a season-best 28:09, matching the 15th-fastest time in the program's history. Meiring placed 14th in the 124-man field, 11 spots ahead of senior captain Eric Crawley (Braintree, MA/Thayer), whoso time was 28:58. Sophomore Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) also broke the 30-minute barrier with a time of 29:56 and a 39th-place finish.

Next Saturday (October 19), Lake Forest will host the 4th Annual Forester Invitational at the Half Day Forest Preserve in Vernon Hills, Illinois. The women's 5K race will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the men's 8K will follow at 11:45.
