Lake Forest Teams Place Second, Snowden Wins Forester Invitational
Four men and six women place among top 20

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester cross country teams each placed second Saturday (October 15) in the Seventh Annual Forester Invitational. Illinois Institute of Technology won both the men’s and women’s competitions with 34 and 29 points, respectively. The Lake Forest men finished with 49 points and the women with 52.

Forester junior Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) placed first in the women’s 5-kilometer race with a time of 19:48, the seventh-fastest mark in the program’s history. Fellow junior Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) was next on the team in 21:15 and sixth place and Ashley Brant (Newport Beach, CA/Old Fields School), another junior, placed 12th in 21:58. Sophomore Kris De la Torre (Aurora, CO/Eaglecrest), junior Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit), and freshman Mackenzie Keeley (Calgary, AB/Lord Beaverbrook) finished 17th, 18th, and 19th, respectively, with times between 21:12 and 21:21.

Senior Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) led the men’s team for the third consecutive race. He placed fourth with an 8-kilometer time of 28:17. Freshman Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, CA/Sequoia) and junior Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) followed Meiring across the finish line in fifth and sixth place with times of 28:46 and 28:48, respectively. Senior Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) placed 17th in 29:50 and freshman Asa Reynolds (Bethesda, MD/Walt Witman) rounded out the team’s top five in 31:04 and 23rd place.

Both teams will be in action again in two weeks (October 29) at the Midwest Conference Championship Meet. Grinnell College will host the competition at Oakland Acres Golf Course. The women’s race will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the men will follow at noon.
