Katie Snowden Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Junior won the Forester Invitational; recorded third fastest career time

Katie Snowden has four of the top ten times in school history.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College cross country runner Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (October 20) after turning in one of the best performances in program history.

Snowden, a junior, took first place and recorded her third fastest finish of her career, a 5k time of 19:48, at the Seventh Annual Forester Invitational last Saturday (October 15). Snowden ran the race 27 seconds quicker than the second place finisher and helped her team place second overall in the meet. Her time was the seventh quickest in program history, and just two seconds slower than the sixth fastest time, which she recorded a year ago in the same meet.

Snowden has faired will at the Forester Invitational in her career. She became the first Lake Forest College woman to win a race as a freshman, finished third in the event as a sophomore, then placed first out of 40 runners this year.

Historically, four of the program’s top ten 5k finishes are by Snowden, and she owns more than half of the team’s top 25 times since women’s cross country became a varsity sport in 1995.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by members of the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
