Hankosky Breaks Own School Record at Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational
Men place 18th, women 28th

  

Dan Hankosky broke his own school record on Saturday.
CHICAGO, IL - The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed in the Maroon Division of Loyola University Chicago’s Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Saturday (October 2). The women placed 28th in the morning and the men finished 18th in the afternoon.

Thirty-four teams and 381 runners competed in the women’s race. The Foresters finished behind Midwest Conference foes Carroll College (22nd) and Monmouth College (25th) but ahead of Knox College (32nd).

Sophomore Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was Lake Forest’s top finisher and completed the 5-kilometer course in 20:12, matching the 19th-fastest time in school history. Freshman Elisa Luna (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) shaved 26 seconds off her best time of the year to finish in 21:03 and in 130th place. Sophomore Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) and freshman Laura Desjarlais (Nashua, NH/Derryfield) ran season-best times by 45 seconds and placed third and fourth on the team in 21:51 and 22:12, respectively. Sophomore Jen Ciesielski (Naperville, IL/Naperville North) rounded out the Foresters’ top five in 22:38 and sophomore Ashley Brant’s (John's Island, SC/Old Fields School) time of 23:28 was a team-best 54 seconds faster than her previous season best.

The men’s 8-kilometer race included 32 teams and 313 competitors. Monmouth College was the top MWC team in the meet in seventh place. Knox finished seven places behind Lake Forest in 25th.

Sophomore Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) led the Forester men in 32nd place with a time of 26:39, the fastest 8K time in school history. He set the previous record of 26:46 at last season’s MWC Championship Meet and now holds nine of the top 25 times in the program’s 10 seasons. Freshman Humberto Palmerin (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) finished in 58th place in 27:18, the 10th-fastest time on the list. Junior Derek Meiring’s (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) 27:59 was his best time of the year by 52 seconds and senior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) turned in a career-best time of 28:17. Junior Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) was fifth on the squad in 30:29 and junior Michael Wollar’s (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) 31:39 was nearly a minute-and-a-half faster than his previous season best.

The next meet on the Foresters’ schedule is the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational on Friday (October 8) at 3:30 p.m.
