Foresters Finish Near the Top at Eagle Invitational
Women place 7th, men 8th

LISLE, IL - The Forester cross country teams competed at Benedictine University’s Eagle Invitational Friday (October 8) afternoon. Lake Forest’s women placed seventh out of 20 teams while the men finished eighth out of 18. Northern Illinois University won the women’s team competition while North Central College placed first in the men’s race.

Sophomore Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was the first Forester female to cross the finish line. She placed 11th in the 144-runner field with a 5-kilometer time of 20:14. Sophomore Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit) was next on the team in 32nd place with a time of 21:41. Freshman Elisa Luna (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) was 42nd in 22:05. Sophomore Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) finished 49th in 22:24 with freshman Jessica Dock (West Bend, WI/West Bend West) behind her by just four seconds.

In the men’s 8-kilometer race, 145 runners completed the course and Forester sophomore Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) placed sixth overall with a time of 26:51. Freshman Humberto Palmerin (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) was only 26 seconds behind him in 14th place. Senior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) was the team’s next finisher at 28:43 and in 55th place. Junior Derek Meiring’s (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) 28:54 was good for 61st place and classmate Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) finished 96th in 30:49.

Lake Forest will host the Sixth Annual Forester Invitational next Saturday (October 16) at the Half Day Forest Preserve in Vernon Hills. The women’s 5K race will begin at 11:00 a.m. and be followed by the men’s 8K.
