FORESTERS PLACE SEVEN IN THE TOP 30 AT MONMOUTH
At Saturday's (Oct. 9) Monmouth "Fighting Scot" Invitational, six Lake Forest College women and one man cracked the top 30 in their respective races as the Forester women took fourth place (out of seven total and six complete teams).
Junior Sarah Simpson (Colorado Springs, CO) finished in 12th place (out of 51 total runners) to lead the women's team. She finished the five-kilometer course in 22:02. Jennifer McGuire was the second Forester to cross the finish line when she completed the race in 22:19 and in 15th place. It was the first time this season that McGuire had been one of the Foresters' top two runners in a race. Michelle Murillo (Des Plaines, IL) rounded out the top 20 finishers for Lake Forest with her 20th place finish, and Jillian Hibler (Salt Lake City, UT) (21st; 22:54) and Jill Hinrichs (Geneseo, IL) (23rd; 23:18) rounded out the top five for the Foresters. Freshman Melissa Brown followed Hinrichs just one place behind (24th place) with a time of 23:21.
On the men's side, four runners comprised the Forester team. Freshman Eric Crawley (Braintree, MA) finished in 30th place (out of 68 total runners) with a time of 30:20. Fellow freshmen Sean Smith (Evergreen, CO) and Brandon Johnson (Phoenix, AZ) finished in 43rd (31:57) and 61st (34:48) place, respectively, while sophomore Zack Warmack (Idaho Springs, CO) finished in 52nd place with a time of 33:04.
