Foresters Preview MWC Championship Course at Lawrence Invite
Men place sixth and women seventh

APPLETON, WI - The Forester cross country teams competed in the Lawrence Invite Saturday (September 11) at High Cliff State Park near Appleton, Wisconsin. Lake Forest’s men placed sixth and the women seventh at the site of the Midwest Conference Championship Meet on October 30.

Sophomore Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) was the Foresters’ top male finisher in the squad’s first 8-kilometer race of the season. He completed the course in 27:41, good for 11th place overall. Freshman Humberto Palmerin (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) was next on the team in 26th place with a time of 28:31. Junior Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) finished 20 seconds and seven places later and senior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) was 45th in 29:17. Junior Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) rounded out the team’s top five in 75th place with a time of 31:24.

On the women’s side, sophomore Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was the fastest Forester with a 5-kilometer time of 20:47 and 13th-place finish. Freshman Elisa Luna (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) was 27th in the meet in 21:32 and sophomore Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit) was just 10 seconds back in 32nd. Junior Elisabeth Lewis (Voreppe, France/Black Forest) and sophomore Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) were 71st and 73rd, respectively, and led a pack of five Foresters who were separated by just 30 seconds.

Carthage College won the men’s team competition and UW-Oshkosh the women’s.

Lake Forest will compete in the Midwest Collegiate Open next Saturday (September 18) at UW-Parkside. The meet begins at 12:00 p.m.
