Women 12th at Concordia University Invitational
The women's race was first and was won by the College of St Scholastica with 48 points. Midwest Conference foes Carroll College and St. Norbert College were second and third with 70 and 77 points, respectively. Lake Forest finished with 321 points, just behind Concordia University (IL) and ahead of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Foresters' top female finisher was freshman Elisabeth Lewis (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Black Forest Academy), who completed the 5-kilometer course in 22 minutes and 40 seconds, good for 67th place out of 173 runners. Junior Lee Winklepleck (Shaker Heights, OH/Hathaway Brown) was just two seconds and one place behind Lewis. In the men's race, Carthage College ran away with the team title with just 25 points. The Wisconsin Track Club was second with 94 and St. Norbert was third with 129. Lake Forest's 228 points were just ahead of Carroll's 245. Freshman Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) was the Foresters' top runner. He placed 17th overall with an 8-kilometer time of 28:33, matching the 25th-fastest time in school history in his first-ever 8K race. Senior captain Eric Crawley (Braintree, MA/Thayer) was the team's next runner, finishing 34th with a time of 29:29. Lake Forest will make its third consecutive trip north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border next Saturday when they compete in the Midwest Collegiate Championship at UW-Parkside.
