Women Place eighth, Men 15th at Midwest Collegiate Open
Katie Snowden Places 25th of 212 runners in women’s 5K

Kenosha, Wis. - The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed in the Midwest Collegiate Open at UW-Parkside on Saturday (September 16). The Forester women placed eighth in the 17-team meet and the men finished 15th out of 18 complete squads.

Senior Katie Snowden (Toronto, Ontario/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was Lake Forest’s top female runner for the third time in as many meets this year. She placed 25th out of 212 runners and completed the 5-kilometer course in 19:57, matching the 13th-fastest time in team history. Freshman Diane Stajszczak (Boulder City, Nev./Boulder City) was next on the squad in 52nd place with a time of 20:42. Senior Leann Kimmons (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) finished 58th in 20:50. Senior Liz Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Cristo Rey Jesuit) and junior Samantha Yozze (Lemont, Ill./College of Dupage) rounded out the team’s top five in 115th and 133rd, respectively.

Freshman John Thies (Los Angeles, Calif./Saint Francis) was the top Forester on the men’s side. He placed 118th out of 222 runners with an 8-kilometer time of 29:37. Sophomore Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) was 159th in 30:40 and classmate Levi Paul (Austin, Minn./Governor Dummer) finished just four places and nine seconds later. Sophomores Asa Reynolds (Bethesda, Md./Walt Witman) and James Zender (Fishers, Ind./Home Schooled) were fourth and fifth on the team, respectively.

After a weekend off of competition, Lake Forest will take on more high-quality programs at Loyola University Chicago’s Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Saturday, September 30.
