Women Place 16th, Men 18th at Midwest Collegiate Open
14 Foresters run season-best times on challenging course

KENOSHA, WI - The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed in the Midwest Collegiate Open at UW-Parkside on Saturday (September 18). The Forester women placed 16th out of 24 teams while the men finished 18th out of 32. Edinboro University won the women’s team competition and Iowa State University the men’s.

Sophomore Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) was the 55th runner to cross the finish line and completed the 5-kilometer course in 20:03, matching the 10th-fastest time in school history. Sophomore Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit) placed 116th in the race in 21:21 and freshman Elisa Luna (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) finished just 10 places and eight seconds later. Freshman Jessica Dock (West Bend, WI/West Bend West) trimmed nearly a minute-and-half off her time from the week before and placed 169th. Sophomore Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) was the team’s fifth runner in 171st place out of the 268 competitors.

On the men’s side, sophomore Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) time of 27:21 for the 8-kilometer course is the 12th-fastest in the program’s history. He placed 85th out of 369 runners. Freshman Humberto Palmerin (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) finished 117th and also cracked the program’s top 25 performances with his time of 27:58. Senior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) finished in 28:40 and in 155th place. Juniors Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) and Michael Wollar (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) rounded out the team’s five scorers.

The Foresters will join other schools from around the country that also do not have a varsity track and field program for the Cross Country Only National Championships next Saturday (September 25). The meet, which will be hosted by St. Louis Univerisity and held at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m.
