Hankosky and Snowden continue to lead both squads

Genia Lindsey was one of five Forester women to run a season-best 5K time.
KENOSHA, WI - The Lake Forest College cross country teams made the short trip to Kenosha, Wisconsin, Saturday (September 20), for the Midwest Collegiate Championship, hosted by UW-Parkside. The Forester women placed 23rd and the men were 19th.

Northern Michigan University won the women's race, followed by Wayne State University and Calvin College. Lake Forest placed just behind Robert Morris College (21st) and Trinity Christian College (22nd) and ahead of Moraine Valley Community College (24th) and the College of DuPage (25th).

For the third time in as many meets, the Forester women were led by freshman Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution). Snowden placed 80th out of 308 runners and completed the 5K course in 20:08. The time was just two seconds slower than her career best and ranks 14th in school history. The other five runners on the team who competed Saturday all had their best times of the season. Freshmen Estafania Luna (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) and Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit) finished in 21:18 and 22:03, respectively. Sophomores Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) and Catherine Norton (South Boston, MA/Phillips Andover Academy) posted times of 22:04 and 23:24, and freshman Ashley Brant (John's Island, SC/Old Fields School) finished in 25:16.

On the men's side, North Central College claimed the title with Wayne State University placing second and Calvin College third. The Foresters finished just behind a trio of Midwest Conference schools, Beloit College (15th), Ripon College (17th), and Carroll College (18th).

Freshman Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg), like Snowden, led his team for the third straight week. He completed the grueling 8K course in 27:44 and placed 147th out of 385 runners. The Foresters had five runners finish in less than 30 minutes. Sophomore Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/ Airport Senior) was second on the squad in 28:58, senior Beau Llewellyn (Oro Station, ON/Eastview Secondary School) third in 29:20, junior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) fourth in 29:33, and sophomore Chris Driscoll (Lake Forest, IL/Pope John XXIII Regional) fifth in 29:52.

After a weekend off, the Foresters will be back in action on Saturday, October 4, at the Warrior Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Greenfield Park in West Allis, Wisconsin. The meet will begin at 11:00 a.m.
