Women Place Eighth, Men Ninth at Tom Barry Invitational

GREEN BAY, WI - The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed in St. Norbert College’s Tom Barry Invitational on Saturday (September 3). The Forester women placed eighth and the men ninth out of 13 teams. The College of St. Scholastica captured the title on the women’s side and Ripon College won the men’s competition.

Junior Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) completed the women’s 5-kilometer course in 20:05 and placed third overall. She was just 24 seconds behind the leader and matched the 14th-fastest mark in the program’s history. Senior Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) was next on the team in 22:45, good for 41st place, and junior Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) finished just seven seconds and three places back. Sophomore Amalia Vriend (King City, ON/Cardinal Carter Catholic) and Mackenzie Keeley (Calgary, AB/Lord Beaverbrook) rounded out the team’s top five in 47th and 50th place.

Junior Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) led the men’s team with a four-mile time of 23:18 and 20th-place finish. Senior Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) completed the course in 24:09 and in 28th place. Classmate Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) was third on the team in 49th place with a time of 24:53. Freshmen Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, CA/Sequoia High) and Curt Miller (Reno, NV/Sage Ridge School) finished 53rd and 78th, respectively, and completed the Foresters’ top five.

Lake Forest will compete again next Friday (September 9) at Aurora University’s Spartan Classic. The meet will begin at 4:45 p.m.
