Foresters Compete at Aurora University’s Spartan Classic
Women place fifth, men seventh

The Foresters’ top female finisher was junior Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution) in seventh place overall. Her 6-kilometer time was 24:44. Senior Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) was the team’s second runner at 27:15 and in 45th place. Sophomore Amalia Vriend (King City, ON/Cardinal Carter Catholic) finished just two places and four seconds behind Lindsey. Junior Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) and freshman Mackenzie Keeley (Calgary, AB/Lord Beaverbrook) rounded out the team’s top five. Kimmons placed 59th in 27:40 and Keeley came in three places and 10 seconds later.

Junior Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) was the first Lake Forest runner to cross the line in the men’s race. His 8-kilometer time of 29:05 was good for 35th place overall. Seniors Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) and Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) were next on the team. Pittinos placed 62nd in 30:50 and Meiring was three places and 10 seconds back. Freshman Asa Reynolds (Bethesda, MD/Walt Witman) finished 84th in the race with a time of 31:51 and senior Eric Leninger (Geneva, IL/Geneva) was the team’s fifth runner, just three places and four seconds behind Reynolds.

The Foresters will travel to Grinnell, Iowa, for the Les Duke Invite next Saturday (September 17). The women’s race will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the men’s competition will follow at 10:45. Saturday’s meet, as well as the Midwest Conference Championship Meet on October 29, will be held at Oakland Acres Golf Course.
